Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Advocacy (IDEA) Summit

IDEA Summit for High School & College Students

NCCJ St. Louis is proud to present the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy (IDEA) Summit for high school & college students.  The IDEA Summit is a 3-day training for high school and college aged youth. This summit can be held for youth groups, individual high schools, colleges & universities, or students from multiple schools within a given school district..  The power of the IDEA Summit lies in its ability to train members of a specific group, school or district to address the unique opportunities and challenges within that community.

IDEA Summit Participants will gain an increased understanding of:

• Their diverse identities- including race, class, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, age, and religion- their socialization because of those identities, and the impact they have on their interactions with peers, adults , and the larger community,

• How power, oppression, and privilege operate based on these identities at the personal, interpersonal, and institutional levels,

• Individual interaction patterns, organizational policies and practices that might perpetuate exclusion, inequity, and injustice, and

• Strategies for taking action that promotes equity and inclusion within their group, school district, or community.

Optional Follow Up Consultation

NCCJ St. Louis will provide monthly consultation with adult and/or youth leaders following the summit in support of youth efforts to promote equity and inclusion in their group, school, district or community. During this consultation, an NCCJ Program Associate will assist in planning agendas, activities or other plans to help meet support the youth in their efforts.
